António Filipe

Member of Parliament with the PCP 14th legislature.

António Filipe Gaião Rodrigues, born on 28 January 1963, holds a bachelor’s degree in Law, a master’s degree in Political Science, Citizenship and Governance, and a PhD in Law.

He is a member of the Central Committee of the PCP, a jurist and a university professor at Universidade Europeia.

He has held a number of public positions throughout his career, serving as a Member of Parliament with the PCP since the 5th legislature and as a member of the Management Committee of the PCP Parliamentary Group since 1991. In this capacity, he has served as a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees, and as a member of the Parliamentary Committees on Constitutional Revision in the various legislatures.

In the performance of his duties as a Member of Parliament with the PCP, he has also participated as a member of the National Defence Committee and in several Parliamentary Committees of Inquiry, including, among others, on the European Social Fund, the Belém Cultural Centre, the Economic Groups, the Camarate Accident, and the Foundation for Prevention and Security.

He served as a member of the Board of Administration of the Assembleia da República in the 7th legislature and as a member of the Jury for the annual Human Rights Prize awarded by the Assembleia da República in the 8th legislature.

He has served as Vice-President of the Assembleia da República from 2004 to 2009, from 2011 to 2015 and from 2019 onwards.

He is a Commander of the Order of Civil Merit of the Kingdom of Spain.
